Overpaid Overtime

I know I have been lucky but this was agreed with my employer that there were other factors affecting the situation. It was also myself who asked to pay the money back before the employer said anything which I think showed them that it wasn't malicious.
As stated above I will only have problems paying the £100 until the end of September and then come October I will be able to clear the remainder of the balance. It has not been started to be taken back so I will speak with my employer and see if they will allow the £50 to begin with and then I will just pay the rest off so it will not take any longer than the employer wants.
When I posted it was never to get away with not paying and I also know it is my fault for not double checking what I was being paid but as also stated I was doing a lot of overtime (extra 40 hours a week over 7 days most weeks) and my wages didn't seem wrong, but I have been careful from now.0 -
Have you spent it then? Unless you have spent it I don't understand why you can't pay it back. I mean sure, it was a technical error, and totally not your fault, but surely you check your income? I was overpaid once and paid it back the same week.0

Are you a member of a Union? If so seek advice from them firstly. Then contact CAB and see what advice both parties give you. As I have mentioned in a previous post you can always ask. It is not unreasonable to ask for help in this situation and please don't let anyone make you feel like it. By contacting them there can only be two outcomes; pay it pack at a rate you can afford or they can refuse in which case it can be taken to a tribunal. However most employers would not want the situation to escalate that far so overall I think that by asking you can only serve to gain. Don't give up! Don't feel pressured or bullied into rolling over if you can't afford it.0 -
