Mortgage application - employer checks

Any ideas at what stage the lender may check with employers, or indeed whether checks are still undertaken?

Depends on your app, job, circumstances etc... What makes you think they will check, do you have different circumstances to the norm?
An opinion is just that..... An opinion
  • It came up in conversation with a relative, who suggested that was normally the cause of any application delay.

The HR department is like a beast of a machine, and doesn't have a reputation of getting things resolved quickly! Hence I wanted to ensure if they did need to check, it was actually dealt with quickly.

Mostly lenders work from wage slips P60s and bank statements.

They sometimes need an employers ref for:

    Allowances and bonuses
    Maternity leave
    Probationary periods
    Temporary contracts
    Promotions and pay rises

If your lender contacts you employer you just need to keep chasing up your end.
