Jobcentre Diaries

How much detail are you expected to put in these diary sheets? 2 weeks ago I was told every thing I did each day had to be logged, which I did, then signed on with same adviser and this time, when I asked for 2 or 3 of the diaries, she tells me I dont need to go into that much detail and only gave me one diary.
Its obvious that if I am writing down 6 or 7 things each day, Im going to fill in at least 2 diaries a fortnight.

I don't use the diary - I make a note of any jobs I have applied for on the notes section on the UJM site, then I have a tick box spreadsheet for where I have looked for jobs, eg Local paper, UJM, total jobs, monster etc, and tick against them when I have searched. My adviser said this is perfectly acceptable and I don't need to take the check sheet with me.Don't Panic - and carry a towel

I have been given a new sheet to fill in and its STUPID
it says as follows
Date, Job title/Ref number, Company/person to contact, Contact details tel number, email etc, where did you find the vacancy?, Method of applcaiton?, Date of follow up
The boxes are about 1cm by 2cm and far too small for all the info they want.
At the top it says
Jobcentre plus require each customer to complete a job search log for all job search activity and bring this with you each time you attend the local office and sign your declaration
The ALL in underlined and this really makes no sense as ALL job search activity means a lot more than the heading they have put on it. It means to me at least EVERYTHING you have done to look for a job yet the sheet only wants you to list job applications!!We’ve had to remove your signature. Oh yes I used to get told only fill in 6 a week but I filled in ALL jobs I applied for and now it seems they are requesting all jobs but not all activityWe’ve had to remove your signature. Does Quality versus Quantity occur to anyone in DWP or Jobcentre.
People will spend more time satisfying pointless conditionality, creating activity to keep this clueless system running, diverting them from looking for real jobs.
Nobody in the Jobcentre is really interested in all the detail.
Bureaucracy gone mad.
It's ludicrous.0 -
I got the impression its all designed to make life difficult for me as I refuse access to UJM, their thinking being that I will give up writing it all down and do it on UJM and give them access.
They change their mind each 2 weeks, first they want every single thing I do each day, then next 2 weeks say I dont need to give that much detail when I ask for several diary sheets.0 -
just write what they ask for then they can not say you didn't do itI got the impression its all designed to make life difficult for me as I refuse access to UJM, their thinking being that I will give up writing it all down and do it on UJM and give them access.

Probably, there was someone else who said as soon as they gave access to the advisor, their attitude changed and the advisor stopped telling them to do this that & the other.I got the impression its all designed to make life difficult for me as I refuse access to UJM, their thinking being that I will give up writing it all down and do it on UJM and give them access.

Are they pushing for access to your UJM account each time you see them ?
Do you see same advisor each time ?0 -

I just make my own notes on a daily basis and use any decent type websites. Unfortunately the UJM site dosent fit into that category though.I also refuse to let them snoop as is everyone's legal right.
Its the same for me and others, they are just playing a sick game with the vulnerable. Some weeks out come the silly microscopic books and the next bring in your own search info.Their highly presumptuous and governments plan is to have EVERYONE on line.I have argued we all need to eat first , but their not listening.0 -
The info below may help some with all the ifs and buts surrounding the governments UJM website.
Its a snippet from a Freedom of information request to the DWP.
At present, it is not mandatory for a Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) claimant to give DWP
access to their Universal Jobmatch account. Access is only granted voluntarily by the JSA
claimant once they tick a box in their Universal Jobmatch profile.
4. Is fully informed consent required to register willingly or on a mandatory basis? If consent to
register and accept your online Universal Jobmatch privacy policy is withheld, when mandated
to register will that result in a benefit sanction?
We intend to introduce mandation for Universal Jobmatch in 2013.
It is not currently mandatory for jobseekers to use the Universal Jobmatch service but it has
always been our intention to mandate some JSA claimants to register with Universal Jobmatch
Funny how when they invent something which is very unhelpful for most unemployed they are obsessed with the terminology of mandation. This site is full of part time low paid jobs that most couldn't take because of that very simple fact.Cost of living out of spec with wage.Fail to apply when choosing a vacancy from a drop down menu and bang! you will be sanctioned either rightly or wrongly but will starve while the drawn out appeal process begins.

There are 2 advisers signing people on, the first one deals with those who use UJM and the others sign with this hard faced old hag who always gives people a hard time. She was open in the sense that she said it was my right to not give access to UJM but I just get the impression all this making it a real hassle to provide a written search history is designed to make people change over to it.0
