Just made some flapjacks intending to take into work. However, they haven't turned out very well
they are really crumbly and not properly sticking together in nice little squares. I can't take them to work, if only because they are too messy for people to just pick up and eat while passing.
The problem is....they still taste great. As evidenced by the fact that I have been picking at them so much I have made myself feel sick! :rotfl: this NEEDS to stop as I can't afford the calories...
So ideally I want to be able to chuck them in the freezer with an idea for future use in mind. If I keep them in the kitchen I will just eat them until they are gone. I have NO willpower
Anyway, anyone got any ideas? Could they be used as a crumble topping or something or would that be really dry?
I will only throw them away if I absolutely have to as it seems such a waste of a large amount of oats and butter

Ice cream topping? Or a mix with natural yoghurt (bit like the granola corner yoghurts you can buy)?0

Add in some dried fruits and maybe some chopped nuts and use as a muesli type breakfast cereal, the ingredients would be similar to granola I think.0

I do the same as MrsLurcherwalker suggests, except I eek it out with some plain raw oats for change of texture and to dilute the fat content. Works very nicely and the children think it is a wonderful treat rather than the occasional mishap
"Look, mummy made us cereal!" Yes, 'cos I'm such a good mummy... honest that's why...
It doesn't happen to me lately since I changed my flapjack/oat bar recipe. Used to be the usual oats, marg, sugar... now I use soya milk (sweetened stuff that has apple juice concentrate) and sunflower spread with the oats instead (plus dried fruit.) It gives a more solid and drier bar so is more easily eaten as a handheld breakfast/snack and not half as sweet, so is less of a cake iyswim?Love and compassion to all x0 -

Topping on stewed apples or fruit - like a crumble.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
pour melted chocolate over them as a yummy treat for yourself, add a dollop of creme fraiche to make you feel virtuous

I quite often seem to have this problem with flapjacks. I have 1 recipe I use that works brilliantly but the amount of butter, sugar & syrup is unbelievable so I try not to make it too often. This does mean that I'm often trying other recipes which usually don't work aswell and end up crumbly.
Anyway we use it up by sprinkling it on top of cereal, my DD thinks its a great treat having flapjack for breakfast :rotfl:

What a fab idea! They need to go in the freezer right this second or they will be gone...
