Unpaid earnings

A friend has given notice and finishes this week.
Earnings from a previous period remain unpaid, despite several reminders. Each time the company has denied receiving messages due to server problems.
It is extremely unlikely payment will be made before Friday when my friend leaves.
What course of action does my friend have?
Its about £350 on PAYE

This factsheet from the CAB might be of use:
http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/e_employer_withholds_your_pay.pdf
To quote, "If talking to your employer does not work, you should raise a written grievance, detailing your complaint. Sign and date your letter and keep a copy. You should do this as soon as possible after your employer has withheld your pay. If you need to take matters further, you can make a claim to an employment tribunal. You should get help from an experienced adviser to do this. There is usually a three month time limit for making a claim to an employment tribunal. The time limit starts from the date when the deduction was made."0
