What was your best value for money grocery item?!

I am trying to compile a list of grocery items where I bought in large quantity at a bargain price. I will add more as I go along but would like to know what was your's?
1. 1kg of soap nuts three years ago from ebay at £5. We still have loads and it's our only laundry detergent (we are not some eco warriors, just looking for bargains). Saved me loads in washing powder.
2. 5 Litre Cold pressed rape seed oil directly from a farmer on ebay, £15 (include shipping), £3/litre compare to £4/500ml in Tesco.
more to come.
