Birthday season is now over in Crumpet cottage :T I just need to find homes for all the new toys and write the thank you notes :T I also need to work out how much it has cost us, but I think we will have come in on budget :money::T I mentioned previously that I had ordered a new scooter for dd2's birthday present, well it didn't turn up and then I received an email to say it had been returned to them as it got damaged in transit and they were now out of stock  on reflection though she had so many presents from family and friends that she really didn't need another one. The scooter she has can last her a bit longer
We've managed a few MSE things this week, we'd built up nearly £500 credit on our Gas account (we're on LPG) and we've decided to stop being on a monthly DD and to pay as we go instead so that we can keep the money in our savings account for as long as possible. Anyway as we have so much in our account we won't need to pay any out for a good few months saving us £64 a month :T We've also reduced our electricity DD by £25 a month (£65 instead of £90) so those savings will go towards our Camper fund/new car :T
I have also took Ds to a new hairdresser this week and I paid £6 instead of the £17.50 I was charged last time :T
I had quite a spendy day yesterday, I went car shopping  and I have ordered a new (to me) small car this will be the main car we use for day to day tazzing around. It will be much more economical and it's much lower road tax (£20:T) so this weekend will be spent looking for car insurance quotes.
Today I need to take Ds to have his passport photographs taken then hopefully I can get them signed and sent off on Monday, I'm not looking forward to paying out for those :cool:Mortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Woohoo it's a new month:T I'm very glad to see the back of January, it's been a long month. Not too bad money wise though, We only spent £232 on groceries, mainly due to more mindful shopping and using things up out of the freezer :money: hopefully i'll do just as well this month too
Mortgage payments, including our regular op have gone out today :T i'm looking forward to checking out the new balance
I had a LSD today, just £1 on parking at dd2's swimming lessons, I was hoping to be £100 up as I had arranged to take the car to be scrapped but typically it wouldn't start  dh had to hop out of the house to help me jump start it but by then I had run out of time so I'm hoping to take it on Wednesday.
Tomorrow is grocery shopping day and we have friends coming round for dinner in the evening so I'll need to make sure I have enough food and drink in. I think I'm going to do toad in the hole for dinner and our friends are bringing the pudding
I've still not got Ds's passport photographs so that is a definite job for tomorrow so I can give the forms to my friend to countersign, I also need to spend a lot of time tidying the house, it seems to go from perfectly tidy to bomb site in a matter of minutes :mad:Mortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

It's been a busy and productive day today, Tuesday seems to be my day to do shopping and housework which seems to be working out quite well. I went to Aldi first thing this morning and went a bit bonkers and spent £78  I had absolutely loads in the trolley so I should be able to get away with a cheaper shop next week :T
I have finally got Ds's passport photos done :T he looks so cute (but absolutely terrified) hopefully I'll be able to send the forms off this week, I'm getting a bit worried as it's not long until we go on holiday:cool:
We had some friends round for dinner tonight and I cooked toad in the hole with broccoli and cauliflower cheese, it was a lovely winter warmer and pretty frugal too. Friends brought a jam steamed sponge which carried on the winter warmer theme :T they also asked us to be their daughters God parents which is very exciting :T
I have sorted out a couple more things to try and sell whilst I was tidying the kids rooms, so tomorrow I will give them a clean and list them on FB or eBay, I'm trying to be ruthless as to what stays and what goes. We don't need the stuff but we do need the money, I must remember that
We're just getting car insurance quotes now for the new car, hopefully there will be cash back available :TMortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Another spendy day yesterday as I went to collect our new car so had to pay the remaining balance, it's lovely to drive, and fingers crossed it will save us money on fuel. We also finally managed to scrap the old car and got an amazing £65 for it
Dh and I have been talking and we have decided that all our spare money will now be going towards our camper and this includes our OP'swe can't do everything and hopefully the camper will improve our quality of life so for the moment we will not be making any more overpayments to the mortgage. We're happy with this decision and I look forward to watching our savings grow.
I will still be as frugal as ever, and maybe more so now that I have a new challengewe are going to tweak the budget to see where else we can save any money. I plan on getting up in the loft over the weekend and seeing what we have up there to sell, we have so many toys it's ridiculous. We definitely do not need to keep them all. I have listed a few things on eBay and have a few watchers on a couple of items. We have tried selling on FB but we really don't seem to have any luck with that  But basically if it's not nailed down, it's going :rotfl:

That made me hoot Crumpets - I can just imagine the kids not sitting still for fear of being listed on eBay [STRIKE]ooh now there's an idea...[/STRIKE]
Very exciting about the campervan. Whatever you end up buying you *must* paint it yellow & it *must* have a fold-down picnic table in it <oink>Life is changing...but I'm still Money Saving!0 -
