Credit check for mortgage

I am applying for a mortgage with Halifax but it was put on hold as our vendor confirmed the property was a freehold. In the meantime I have found a better deal through First Direct.
I spoke to Halifax to advise them of this yesterday, and it has been about 3 months since we opened the file. They told me they did a credit score back then.
Will it harm me to go through FD now and get another credit score done? The deal with FD is better so obviously we will need to get a credit check done regardless, but is there anything I can do to minimise any problems?

One or two isn't an issue, 4 or 5 in a month shows an issue.
whilst the search stays on your file for a year, most places ignore any searches over 3 months when coming to a decision.
also did you know if it was a full application was done or was it a soft search?0 -
I don't think it was a full application but when I asked if it was a soft search they did mention it would show on my file as a credit check.0
