Tax on freelance work

Hello!
I'm in between jobs and have always paid tax by PAYE. However I've been offered a few weeks freelance work which I will have to invoice for and sort my own tax.
How does it work if I need to pay a mixture of PAYE and my own self assessed tax in the same tax year?
Confused!
Thanks
