  • I too enjoy seche vite and poshe
  • SV is the most popular choice but I stopped using it after I got too much shrinkage. The best budget buy in my opinion is Sally Hansen Insta Dri.

Currently however I use China Glaze Fast drying top coat. Dries quickly and is really shiny.

I've been using Sally Hanson Double Duty Strengthening Base and Top Coat for the past month over my nail art, and each design has lasted min 5 days without chipping! I put top coat on daily.

I like seche vite but it always shrinks back from the tips of my nails  My OH is a car painter and checked the ingredients for me. It's got a fast acting drying something or other so he said it would be best to leave it a while after painting my nails to apply the top coat.

Got bored with the idea and tried the BarryM 3 in 1. Apart from the fact I've been picking the polish off it actually lasted a lot longer than seche vite even after doing dishes and gardening :T

Thanks for that might try barrym seeing as it's such a bargain!

I'm a Barry M user as well. I don't tend to have a problem that much with polish coming off, but it will only last about 4 days wtihout the top coat but with the Barry M usually lasts 1 week +

Another vote for Sally Hansen Insta Dri here, though Seche Vite is very good as well.

I must say, if your polish is chipping on the same day you put it on, it's more likely your preparation that's causing it rather than the top coat. Even if you use the cheapest top coat going, it shouldn't chip so soon.

Before you paint your nails you need to make sure they're absolutely clean and free of any oil, hand cream etc. If there's any grease whatsoever the polish won't adhere properly. I scrub mine with soap and a nail brush, then rinse them really well and dry them thoroughly. Then base coat before you polish. When you add your top coat take it up over the free edge to seal the colour in. If you add another top coat every couple of days it should last a week without chipping. You'll get a bit of tip wear but not much.
