Wardrobe Storage

I have inherited a room with a built in wardrobe, and although as nice as it is, there are some caveats about this wardrobe that make it a bit 'difficult' to organise.
The depth of the wardrobe is about 58cm. This is hugely deep, and makes accessing the clothes at the back really annoying.
Secondly, the 4 shelves have a max width of 40cm. Ideally, I would like to go to Ikea to get the PAX baskets and shelves, but these are usually 50cm wide, thus will not fit in this wardrobe.
Any ideas on how I can go about organising this wardrobe correctly? Even pointers to who I can go and hassle for some ideas would be relevant.
Thanks!
