First job interview in 7 years help!!!

Hi all
Im a sahm, who has been at home since 2006 when i had my little girl. i had my other daughter in 2009.
In that time i havent worked but as both are getting to a good age i want to get back into the work place.

I have a interview for cashier at morrisons tomorrow. Not the best job in the world but its a start and would bring in the crumbs.
Im very nervous and lacking in confidence.
How do i bring out the old me, the one who hold a conversation and use grown up words.
I may have some issues with the hours, do i mention this or hope for the best.
Panicking :o

Go in with the thought they need me more then I need you... BECAUSE IT'S TRUE
Bringing up children is up there on the toughest jobs in the world scale so you have a lot more skills then you probably realise.

    Hi bagpuss38,

I’m not sure if this post is a little late to reach you before your interview – hopefully your interview might be this afternoon.
Morrisons obviously feel that, after looking at your application, you have the skills they’re looking for. It’s now just a case of talking more about these skills and your motivation in person today. Did you build up a clear picture of the skills they’re looking for when you completed the application? For example, did they send you a job description or person specification which included these? If you don’t have one, you might find it useful to have a look at the National Careers Service Sales assistant job profile. The ‘Skills and knowledge’ section might come in handy here. Here are the skills it outlines:
    • a good communicator
    • able to get on well with people
    • able to work as part of a team
    • friendly, polite and helpful
    • confident and tactful
    • energetic
    • reliable and responsible
    • honest
‘The work’ section also touches on the responsibilities that might be included in the role you’re going for:
    • serving and advising customers
    • taking payment
    • helping customers to find the goods they want
    • advising on stock amounts
    • giving information on products and prices
    • stacking shelves or displaying goods in an attractive way
    • promoting special offers or store cards
    • handling complaints or passing them on to a manager.
You might find it useful to go through these, if you have time, and think about how you might talk about these if you’re asked about them. Can you think of examples from work, volunteering or home life that could help you explain that you have these skills or have carried out any of the duties above?
As ArtooDeeto pointed out, having confidence in the skills you have to offer should help you feel more confident about having those ‘adult’ conversations today.

Loads of luck – remember you’ll have plenty of skills to offer Morrisons!
