Hi, not sure this is the best forum to post this. Achieving a mortgage is not going to be an issue (from what you have put so far) and therefore the impact on the benefits is the crucial point.

How much has the house been on the market for?
What is the figure of their outstanding mortgage + slightly more to clear their debt?
If these figures are radically different then perhaps they should just drop the price of the house to somewhere between the two to get a sale - if it was cheap surely someone would have bought it in 5 years.0 -
