Npower and EDF Fixed Tarrifs

I'm tempted to move from Co-op Energy to one of the longer fixed tarrifs from EDF 2015 or Npower 2016. However, the reviews of these companies seem fairly horrendous. I realise that they have millions of customers so presumably not everyone is unhappy. Has anyone moved to either company and had a positive experience or should I steer clear of both! Martin :money: has both of these tarrifs as top tips at present!

Npower i wouldn't touch if they were the cheapest.
This is mostly due to some fairly underhand tactics they tried on with their seasonal billing.
They spent a long time trying to pretend it was all ok but eventually admitted their badness under duress.
It was actually a poster on here that got the issue into the Times.

EDF were great until they installed SAP which seriously melted their customer reputation as the initial roll out went badly wrong / was mismanaged.

Outside of that they aren't too bad to deal with and, touch wood, i've not had any issues with them.

Then again i never had issues with BG and loads of other people scream about them.

I like nPower fixed price tariff and there is cashback with it at the moment.

Regarding the poor reviews, in my experience every supplier is capable of giving you a terrible experience, you only have to read the threads on here.

I wouldn't let it stop me to be honest. The npower tariff looks good as currently gas and electricity are going up by around £250 a year.

Hi,I switched from Scottish Power over to EDF last July with no problems.I used a cashback site and that went smoothly as well. The main thing I found with EDF is as long as you give them regular monthly readings then no problems.People who do seem to get problems usually havent done this and it seems to throw everything off as EDFs estimates always tend to favour EDF.In my experience EDF are on the ball.
  • Which? has rated the energy companies – EDF and Npower were actually the worst 2 for customer satisfaction so it may be worth reconsidering.

It’s also worth remembering that “fixed tariffs” isn’t not the same as a fixed price. The discount is fixed (i.e. you will always be charged 2% less than the standard tariff) but the price itself can fluctuate.

Also, Martin may think it’s a good tariff generally, but prices do vary massively depending on where you live. If you haven’t already, do a comparison with uSwitch or a similar website to check the price is good for you.

I’d also echo what the sherrif has said about using a cashback site. That’s a good way to earn some money off your switch.

    Hope this helps.

The two offers MSE Martin included in his email (Npower Price Fix until Sept 2016 & EDF Blue Feb 2015) which the OP refers to are fixed price tariffs. The tariff prices will NOT fluctuate over the term of the contract (but the price you pay will of course be dependant on your usage)

Use a comparison site to see if these are good deals for you.

Im with npower and never had an issue, but would avoid that price fix 2016
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Could you explain why you would avoid the Fixed 2016 offer from Npower.
