I think everyone is different, we are very lucky we could pay for the wedding ourselves so did everything we wanted and didn't really have any interference as parents didn't pay.
It helps we are both very alike in what we wanted. No fuss. Just to be married. Don't get me wrong, I love a good wedding and if that's what a couple wants who am I to judge, whereas we just want a marriage, the wedding party isn't important so that takes a lot of pressure off. However a close friend is getting married in 3 weeks and I can't wait for that wedding, maybe as I think the limelight is on someone else.
