Hi all
I would like to hear your thoughts on this please!
Basically there is a job i am interested in applying to. The salary states 21k only, there is no range. What I would like to know is will it be possible to negotiate on this figure or is this fixed?
Any help appreciated, also, it doesn't say in the advertisement, that it's fixed, but as mentioned there is no range either.
Thanks

I reckon it sounds fixed to me
Some employers say the stated salary is available after probation period to so really best checking with them I suppose0 -
Without knowing anything about the job or role or which sector it is in then i would assume its fixed, However saying that in my current job the salary was advertised online and the actual offer made to me 7k more so companies can and will pay more just depends on your experience and who you are up against.
Just remember the likelihood is that you will be competing with at least 50+ people for the job so you would need to be greatly experienced etc, to stand out and justify discussing a greater pay band.0 -
Thanks peeps.
Well, it is an admin job in a school, but will require some travelling around.. I have more than 5 years experience.

Public sector?
Sounds like it could be fixed given the wording you have used but no hard in asking.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
An admin job in a school is almost certainly on a fixed pay scale, but there will be a range within that scale. Your starting point on the range may be up for discussion depending on experience.0
