vow renewals

Hi.
It is nearly mine and my husbands 9th wedding anniversary and I wanted to ask him on that day if he will renew our vows on our 10th wedding anniversary and do it abroad . We have spoken about it before but not for a while. We want it to be just me, him and our 4 children who will be aged between 10 and 4. We only had our oldest at our wedding and would obviously like to share the moment again as a whole family. It also felt like I was trying to please everyone else on our special day rather that what it was actually all about, us. So anyway I just wondered if anyone knew any ways I could ask him so it is special and cheap. I also wondered if anyone knew how to keep the cost down of the actual vow renewal abroad (if he says yes, of course).
TIA

I guess a lot really depends on where you want to renew your vows...do you have a destination in mind?

Also how formal do you want that vow renewal to be...quite literally you could just end up on a beach at sunset sharing your special moment with him and the kids,a glass of something bubbly and a few non alcholic cocktails if its the very simple that you want...that doesnt actually have to cost anything.
You could easily write your own renewal vows and your kids would probably love to throw a few petals and take some photos....and you could go off and have a lovely meal.

or if you want a more formal thing then you would probably be looking a something similar in cost to a wedding package which can be tagged onto the cost of most holidays ...with a vow renewal its slightly easier because there isnt any legal formalities that you will need to go through such as being resident in the country for a certain number of days etc

Again ideas of how you want to present this to your husband...probably depend on where you want it to happen...if its on a beach you could give him a message in a bottle or tie a label to a shell
if its a destination like italy or greece your looking at then attach your invitiation to maybe a picnic basket containing some food from that country or a pasta picture saying marry me again!

are you reasonably confident he will agree..if so...perhaps your younger children could make him a picture or if you want to get everyone involved how about having a family treasure hunt where the last clue has to be opened by your husband.

Thank you! Some great ideas. He actually asked me about it casually the other day, which I was a bit gutted about but also glad that he thinks the same.
I love the idea of doing it ourselves but not sure how he would feel about that, and it might not feel right to renew them on our own. It sounds so romantic. We both want a beach setting and would love to have it in the evening with candles (obviously that might not happen) and a small 'posh' picnic for the 6 of us. We love relaxing family time rather than big parties (which we had the first time round).
