Alternative to an earthenware dish or clay pot??

Hi all

I'm wanting to cook a recipe which calls for the use of a clay pot or an earthenware dish, I don't have either. So........ can anyone suggest what i can use instead?? Not really sure why is has to be either as it's cooked on the hob.

Thank you!

what is it? I don't think I would want to use either of those items on the hob. What is wrong with a saucepan/ saute pan or cast iron casserole?

I've used earthenware casserole dishes on the hob before. They are fine on a low light. You could use a cast iron casserole instead though but it will get a bit hotter.
