Yes why is that? to work in a law firm you need law experience even though and invoice is an invoice and a payment is a payment the world over!
I have over 20 years exp and law firms wont even look at my CV
Find it hard you can not find anyone though
I think that someone dealing in a law firm accounts needs to understand the principles of legal cashering - which I 'think' is how clients money is handled.
I know I've dealt with various projects where their finances had to be kept 'separate' and even though I've had this experience, I've not got anywhere when applying for legal cashering roles2014 Target;

This negative attitude is probably one of the reasons you're not getting anywhere. Instead of whinging, you could just as easily sent a PM to the OP asking for the details of the job and sending your CV for consideration. You might not have been successful but it's better than giving up before even trying.0 -
and that's why this role is hard to fill yet a lot of companies will just continue to advertise and not back down on the industry experience
How does anyone get a job at a law firm when they are not flexible
I guess that it then boils down to having a 'leap of faith' that a person can do the job ......without dropping you in it from a great height2014 Target;

I did in fact send them a PM at 11.35 pm (no reply yet) and I apply for jobs at law firms all the time so there you go!We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Maybe because in law firms, like many other businesses in these modern times, the book-keeper needs to do a lot more than the old fashioned idea of logging a purchase invoice and paying it at the month end. That simple type of work can now be automated, offshored or done by junior/admin staff.
A book-keeper in a law firm will need to do so much more such as:-
1. Credit control/debt collection.
2. Legal aid claims, preparation, submission, dealing with queries, ensuring payments are made.
3. Management reporting such as unbilled work in progress, productivity for each staff member, profitability by job, profitability by partner/office.
4. Knowing the "solicitors accounts rules" like the back of your hand, i.e. dealing with client monies, client bank account, when interest must be paid to clients, when a separate bank account is needed for a particular client, etc.
5. Compliance reports to the Law Society.
6. Payroll.
7. VAT returns.
That's a hell of a lot more than recording invoices and them being paid.0 -

Does no one else think the whole reason the thread was started with this "question" was to encourage this?
It's perfectly obvious the forum isn't a place to advertise jobs and wares (unless you pay the owners a fee).
This is a very odd thread...0 -
and it's now a very locked thread, which has been reported as spam.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0
