Washing machine leaving black spots on clothes

My washing machine has started to leave black spots on my laundry.

Some of the black spots look like the inside of a felt tip pen.

I am currently doing a maintenance wash at 90 degrees and hoping this will solve the problem.

What else could it be? No one uses felt tips in our house.

  • It could be that the bearings are wearing out. How old is the machine?

Clean the rubber seal around the door with diluted bleach, as it could be due to a build up of crud there. You have to get in all the nooks & crannies....

Then do the hottest possible wash whilst empty (to ensure bleach gone)

We had this & cleaning the seal solved it...

The washing machine is less than 6 years old. LG Direct drive 8kg.

Looks like I will have to get someone in to replace them. The maintenance clean helped but didn't solve the problem completely.
