Sealing food tubs?

Apologies if this isn't the right board for this question, I wasn't sure tbh. Please feel free to move if it's better suited elsewhere.
Anyway...you know how you get food sealed in plastic trays and the like, and they have a clear plastic film over the top that you have to peel back to open?
Well has anyone any idea if it's possible to 're-film' the container to reseal & reuse?
I don't want other containers. I don't want to make a lid out of cling film or tin foil etc, I only want to be able to 'factory' reseal again iyswim?
Is there some sort of gadet that would enable this?

Okay, I'll answer,
but I'm going to be annoying and answer with a question, I know what you mean but why that way? and why won't the lid which comes with a plastic box be suitable?
And, no, sorry I don't know of a device which will re-seal in the way you want it to.0 -
You're looking for a film sealer or lidding machine. They really aren't cheap as this ebay example shows. You'd also need a die plate to match the containers you wish to use (one die per container type/size)

I reckon you could do it with an old iron, go on Ali, give it a go

Cos I want to.
I already have tubs that are the correct size to fit into something, they don't come with lids. They are an unusual size, normal lids off other boxes wont fit them. You're looking for a film sealer or lidding machine. They really aren't cheap ....
Not any more I'm not.
I'd no idea of the cost involved, I naively thought someone was going to tell me Lakeland did something that would help. :rotfl:
Thanks for the info.peachyprice wrote: »I reckon you could do it with an old iron, go on Ali, give it a go

Not only are they sealed at source but either vacuumed or filled with an inert gas first.
Not a job to do at home.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0
