    Doesn't that depend on overall context? As I plan to OP mortgage when I finish the DMP in 11 months it will mean I am financially better off for taking the mortgage break now to clear the card that was on 25.9% interest.

    Agree. Seems you are in control of your finances and have well thought plans. That get to grips with everything. This is the 4th payment holiday that the OP has requested in 7 years however. Like a dependency culture. Personally I blame the loose lending of the credit boom era for problems we are seeing today.

    It seems that you have effectively told the lender you need to miss a mortgage payment in order to invest £300 in the upkeep of your home and their security.

    No wonder they are concerned.

    Are you on interest only? What's £300 anyway if you need to remortgage your house for that then it says that you probably don't have much money spare in case of emergencies and so shouldn't be given any more credit. For £300 get over to the Matched Betting board, if you're new you could make that in an afternoon.
