nearly there ... but need more credit?

Options
Looking for advice on best way to access credit if I can. First time active on forum although have found good advice which has been helpful over the years. I've repaid substantial debt over past 6 years £39000 with £1700 remaining (paying minimum of £150 towards this monthly plus whatever I have surplus each month). Apart from mortgage (no arrears ever) the £1700 is my only debt now. I have £39k outstanding on my house valued at £75k but don't think remortgage would be an option given my history. I have a credit card with £750 credit and this is currently paid in full - using his to try to build better credit pattern.
My heating boiler broke down last week (no hot water or heating) and needs totally renewed (old back boiler so have building costs too). Don't mind about the heating but struggling without hot water so can't wait for the 4 months it would take to save that amount. I have approx £750 after bills each month. My own bank has declined a loan as previous debts were linked with them. I have researched deals and could replace for £3000. Might be able to get a grant but would still have to pay costs up front. Problem is I still have 2 defaults (had 8) clearing Dec 2013 and Feb 2015. Will be able to repay over 6 month period max. Am I seeking the impossible? All advice welcomed .......

Could you not pay to temporarily fix your boiler until you can save for a new 1?

Have you checked to see if you are eligible for the green deal (loans from the Govt paid back through savings on bills)?

Thanks everybody, I have already read up a lot on green deal and have some doubts about it. Some pretty negative stuff about it on this site and not entirely clear how successful this project might be - seems to be in very early stages. I worry too that there is money to pay out for efficiency report when applying, but no guarantee that I'll actually get any funding - and it takes time. I feel it's a bit going into the unknown and I'm not wanting to live with that again...

Sorry Krustylouise, forgot to mention that the boiler is probably older than me - I've been patching it for the past few years already!

I know but if you patch it just one more time (if its a possibility) then you have a short while longer to save.

If only.. been told it'll need replacing - won't take any more patching sadly.

Thanks Woodbine, this looks like a definite possibility. Cheers.
