    Hi all,

Ok bit of a weird one...

It turns out that my Nectar card is no longer valid as it had been over a year since I bought anything and swiped my card BUT I can still use it to collect points...

I contacted Nectar and they told me that the quickest thing to do in the meantime is to get a new card from my local store and register that then call them back and they can move the associated points from my old to my new card!

In the meantime, when I registered my new card it asked me if I would like to register for Adpoints and the newsletter... Seems rude not to I thought.

Now my plan is to give it a week and see if I can collect Adpoints on both my old and my new card and then transfer the points from my old card to my new one! If you're still with me...

In theory this will give me a quick boost of a few hundred points :)

Has anyone done this before or got experience of it working/failing?

    G'night,

  • Is it worth it just to collect a few extra points??

What if it doesn't work and you get barred or something?

I've been doing it since summer '13 and never had problems with it. I did as others are now planning, to collect them for use at Christmas. They redeemed without any problems - never had problems with the site & unsure how you would get barred.

I think Eager_Elephant may have been referring to the person wanting to use both a new and old card then transfer the points rather than those of us just using one card to view the adverts.

When you get new card you have 2 options:

    1. create new adpoints account for new card. Try this and nectar.com will notice one person has two adpoints accounts at same time.

    2. update your existing adpoints account with new card. This is manual process- you message adpoints staff to update account- who will notice anything awry.

So depends whether they care enough to stop any double counting, but they will be able to spot it IMHO.

Then I suppose a browse through the T&C's may be worthwhile to find if they allow more than 1 card and/or account per household. Perhaps in a partner or spouses name, child over 16/18?

Having 2 cards & accounts on one name might not be worth a risk, if there is one.

    Hi all,

Thanks for the comments. I'm sort of on the same wavelength, it's probably not worth the risk so while I've got to 250 points on my new and old card for this week I'm gonna call on Monday to transfer the points to my new card and if they ask then I'll play dumb...

Hopefully they'll be ok, but if I wind up losing a couple of hundred points then it's no biggie and I'll at least have a card that I can use properly! :)

    Cheers,

finally signed up as a way to brink in a few extra £ss over the course of the year.

I realise through reading the thread that 250 points will not be a weekly occurrence. Is it realistic to spread the points earnings over the course of a week (e.g. 10 mins a day to watch about 5 vids), or is the best practice simply to grab what you can, when you can?

Grab as many as you can when you can as the adverts do disappear.

In the terms and conditions (which I sadly read) it said that there was a finite amount of videos spread across everyone who does Adpoints (so the quicker you are on a Monday the better)

To be honest I have been doing them on a Sunday evening (finishes at 23.59) and I get the same amount of points as others who post on here and viewed the videos earlier in the week.
