With the weather so topsy turvy at the moment it is easy to catch a cold . What is the best cure for a cold if you have the tough luck to pick one up

Nothing will cure a cold. But rest, eating well, and maybe caffeine and painkillers will relieve the symptoms.0

I've used manuka honey, which I feel stops me getting a cold in the first place. Its expensive but works for me.0

I take a soluble vitamin C & zinc tablet every day (easily available from supermarkets or pharmacies) - you dissolve it in water to make a fizzy orange drink and buy them in tubes of 30 or so (one a day). Won't help much in the short term, but over time I have found it really helpful for my immune system (which was shot to sh*t after a horse-riding accident when I was 11).
In the shorter term, plenty of fresh orange juice, fruit, vegetables. Hot Lemon and Honey at the first sign of sniffles and/or warmed-up whisky at bed-time.
Keep smiling! x0 -

I don't think there is a cure for the common cold. The best you can do is try to prevent catching a cold.
Here are some things I do to prevent catching a cold:
I don't touch my nose or eyes (when in public places), due to the possibility of having picked up the cold virus from a surface and transferring it from my hands to face.
On arriving home, I wash and dry my hands to help remove germs and virus I may have picked up from surfaces.
If possible, when in public places..........I will avoid sitting near or directly opposite someone with a cold.
On the rare occasions when I do have a cold, I follow the old saying 'feed a cold, starve a fever'. If I can still taste and smell, it's time to treat myself to biscuits and chocolate because as some of you will know............. chocolate is the answer to everything.:D
I also use the Kleenex balm tissues to avoid the Rudolph red nose transformation.:(10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -
Squeeze the juice of two lemons into a cup, top up with boiling water. Add 1 shot of tequila, and salt to rim (usually best to do this before adding liquid to cup)..
Always works for me.

Day and night nurse, the liquids, will allow you to sleep and function, controlling the symptoms rather than curing the cold, which isn't possible. I would highly recommend the flu jab each October, I know its not supposed to stop you catching colds but it certainly helps and if you do get one its much much milder and shorter:happyloveThank you, thank you, thank you :happylove0

I always take echinacea tablets to try and boost my immune system although I do try and eat healthily so that my body has a fighting chance from cold viruses.
At the first sign of a cold, I use First Defence to prevent the virus from multiplying, I also increase my fluid intake to dilute the viral load and take a gram of Vit C and Zinc daily for 3-4 days.
Usually, if I've caught it in time, the cold doesn't get a chance to develop and the symptoms are gone within 48 hours maximum. Works for me.:T0 -
I find sweating it out in a sauna or steam room really helps!0
