M & S Furniture seconds ?

Hi,
Don't know if this is the right place to ask - please move if it isn't !

I need a new sofa. I have been looking around, and must admit I love M&S stuff, but they are rather pricey - even with current 30% reduction offer, the leather sofa I like is nearly £1000:eek:

I am sure I have read somewhere about peeps buying M&S sofas etc at half price - presumably from Factory/Warehouse outlets.
There are LOADS of 'direct from manufacturer' ones on ebay, who 'hint' they are like certain M&S furniture. Has anyone got any good/bad experience of these sites ?
Or does anyone know where I can get M&S sofa at a price which can still let me sleep at night

Many thanks

I don't know whether you have heard of an independant discount shopping centre called Trago Mills. It is mentioned elsewhere on this site I know. They have a large branch at Newton Abbot in Devon and recently were selling loads of ex M&S furniture (also Per Una clothes with the labels cut out partially!). It may be a long way for you to travel, but perhaps give them a call or email and see what they have got? I live ten minutes away so if I can help around my work and kids then let me know.

There's a couple of stores in Skipton & Batley that sell M&S furniture.

The Batley one is in the Alexander Mills complex (near Skopos Motor Museum) & the Skipton one is in the old Tapsell & West shop on Cavendish Street

Whilst I'd normally recommend M&S stuff, I'd definitely not do so for their sofas - ours has been a great disappointment.

Which one do you have ?

My friends had an M&S suite, just replaced it with 'modern' one from DFS, and they are already hankering for their old one back. !

But thanks - ALL comments and experiences welcome :T

    paulow,

Do Homebrands have a lot of things in? It's a bit of a trek for me, but if it is worth a visit I will definitely go! x
    Gone ... or have I?

Rossini. Looks like they don't sell it any more. Within a few weeks of getting it everything went very saggy. No amount of plumping up (as recommended) would improve matters.

Stompa, did you get it changed or replaced?
I work at M&S and that sounds like a manufacturing fault to me. It doesn't sound like the kind of quality that people are used to generally with M&S.

If you are not happy with a product for quality purposes then get it exchanged. If its a manufacturing fault then its the manufacturer that has to sort it out.

No, foolishly I left it too late before I complained. When I did eventually contact their Furniture Service Team (or something like that) their only suggestion was that I could purchase replacement seating cushions at around £100 a cushion. Given what had happened to the first set, this didn't sound like a very appealing idea to me!

Too late now really, as the sofas must be 6 or 7 years old.
