Debt with MKDP Llp?

Afternoon all.
I am in the process of buying a house and applying for mortgages and as such thought it would be a good idea to get my credit report, which I did both through Experian and Equifax.
To my surprise there appears to be a debt going back (default date) of 01/04/2008 for circa £1800.
I googled MKDP Llp having not had any dealings with them previously and have discovered that they are a DCA that essentially buy debts from companies, of which Barclaycard and HDBC seem to be among.
Although I have never had a Barclaycard I have had an account with HSBC but closed it pre 2008 and switched to another bank.
From other people's experiences that I have read MKDP Llp appear to employ underhand tactics and have a ruthless ethic and so I could potentially be opening a can of worms by calling them and asking what this this default is all about.
I intend to visit my local HSBC branch to see if I can sit down with someone who can either prove or disprove this default.
Can anyone offer advise on how it is best for me to proceed?
Many thanks in advance
Much love

Certainly do not call the debt collector.
I would write to them with the prove it letter - but change the wording to state you have noticed an entry from them on your credit file - Letter when you know nothing about about the debt - AKA "Prove it" letter
You could ask HSBC if they are aware of any debts in your name, but no particular reason to think this belongs to them mkdp buy debts from lots of different lenders (welcome finance are another common creditor they buy debts from)A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
That's a fantastic help thanks very much, just had MKRR call me, I declined to speak to them as they wouldn't explain whom they are.
In my credit file I am linked to an ex girlfriend with who I used to rent a flat, long story short she scarpered with the rent in arrears with our private landlord (not actually with our landlord but owing money to him!) I did sort is out with the landlord after we parted company and I moved out but it is very concerning to me that she is shown as a being a financial associate on my Equifax report.
I know for certain she owes money to at least 1 bank as well as credit and store cards, not to mention other individuals you wouldn't really want to owe money to! She gets around this by moving flat every 6 months so.
Can I be implicated by her cavalier attitude towards money (this all happened 5 years ago)
Much love

You need to file a notice of disassociation from her at each of the 3 credit reference agencies (you can do this online or in writing).
While the link remains your ability to get credit could be affected by her credit file.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
