Yes MAC full coverage available only in pro shops or by telephone from the number on MAC UK site, I would never use another foundation now, I have skin similar to yours and also used to use Revlon Colourstay and EL DW but both eventually broke me out and made me look older as they were so drying, dont forget you can always get samples of DW for free from any EL counter;)

I combine Boots No 17 BB cream with Vichy Derma Blend, topped with ELF mineral booster :)
  • I like Mineral foundation. I was having breakouts quite regularly & someone on here suggested I try mineral makeup. It's been great for my skin as it doesn't block my pores & I very rarely get spots now.

I have also changed my skin care routine & now use Boots Simply Sensitive face products.

Colourstay and Double Wear is for a long lasting finish not really to hide blemishes or redness. I wouldn't pick a heavy foundation as it will look like a mask. The trick is to conceal these issues instead.

I would suggest trying a primer with a green base to it as green is a neutraliser for red and great to cover redness or spots. You then go ahead and put your foundation over it as normal.

I really like W7 primers they cheap and quite a good dupe for smashbox primer. Here is a anti-redness green based one.

As suggested above a mineral foundation is best if you prone to spots. I know Bare Minerals is fanastic and I use it on more mature skin as it doesn't sit in lines but covers up redness. I think Loreal do a mineral foundation/powder that's mean't to be good.
  • I like both Clinique and Clarins. Both are expensive, but to be honest, I've never found a foundation on the cheaper end that works for me.
  • Which W7 products have you tried? Have read mixed reviews on W7 products, but they are cheap and maybe worth just trying.

I use the W7 Prime Magic Camera Ready as this was advised by my makeup teacher as she both the smashbox primer and the w7 and said they where near identical. It is quite nice and does make a difference. However if you really wanted to splurge Illamasqua Hydra Veil is meant to be amazing all the tutors at my college swear by it and i've tried it myself and must say it is amazing especially on mature skin.

But to be honest I don't use a primer on my own skin just a moisturiser as I have normal-dry skin and find primers are better for either mature skin or oily or spot prone skin.

I don't have a lot of redness but sometimes suffer with a red nose or occasional spot so use E.L.F Correcting Palette which contains all colour correctors including a green one. http://eyeslipsface.co.uk/en/restofworld/concealer/corrective-concealer/invt/83300. I have a blog site that reviews makeup and did a little review on what colours neutralise problems like redness or dark circles using the E.L.F correcting palettes. http://cheapnchicbyred.blogspot.co.uk/

For the OP if I was you i'd go to debenhams or john lewis as then all the brands under one roof and just go around asking for a free consulation and samples. Don't buy anything there and then instead go outside in the day light (makes a huge difference) and wear it all day and see if it lasts and feels comfortable and more importantly to see if it covers all day.

I would try and treat your acne/spots (I know thats easier said then done, am sick of having bloody spots in my adult life when I had none in my teenage years, but thats due to hormones and the pill sigh) You are cleansing, tone and moisturersing your face day and night? If not start now I would suggest Simple products if you are on a budget as clerasil and so on are known to dry skin out. I use Liz Earle products which are lovely and helped keep spots at bay.

Have a little look at this video on how to cover acne/blemished skin. Its excellent and she recommended Clinque (I know the products can be quite drying but so is Doublewear by EL but I think they are quite good for problematic skin) the product she recommend is Clinque Redness Solutions Makeup Foundation i'd pop along to your clinque counter and get a sample. Its around same price as DW but with a good foundation you don't need to use as much plus if its doing its job you won't need to layer tons of it to cover spots/redness like a normal foundation.
  • From what I can see the w7 range look like dups for quite a few high end brands such as: Benefit and Mac.

Gonna give some of their products a try.

I wore double wear for years, for the simple reason it's the best. But I have recently switched to no7 stay perfect and I can tell you it's almost identical. I am on my third bottle and I won't be switching back. I always wait until its on 3 for 2, AND have a £5 no7 voucher too!
