Cancelling sky

Options
I am trying to persuade my husband to cancel sky now that the sports seasons are over. I am going to ring and see whether they can give me a deal otherwise I will cancel. Please can somebody tell me what happens when you cancel, do they take your box away? Also if I want to reconnect, can I do it straight away, the sports season starts in August. I am interested in the sky+ but do not want it to be connected to my phone line as my phone is in the hall. I am interested in virgin media but hubby is football mad and he thinks sky is better as he has a subscription to watch MU, his favourite them. Thanks

Worst case, you get to keep the box and watch all the freesat channels, do a quick google for a lis.

More likely, they'll offer you a Sky+box for free and may even offer a discount on your package. The first person you speak to won't offer anything so it's not even worth trying. Just wait and chat to the second person. In your case, I'd say you didn't like the cost at the moment and you were missing the programmes you wanted to watch, that might get the right buttons pressed.

    Good luck!

I told them the truth that the equipment I had was over 7 years old and now wasn't working properly so I couldn't justify paying for something I didn't always receive - when they asked why I wanted to cancel - they didn't offer anything and said it will be cancelled in a month! Load of crap.

They will leave you with your box and you will still be able to receive the free channels. When I cancelled a couple of years ago they offered to put me down to the basic package at a heavily discounted rate (about 35p per month or something) incase my circumstances changed. I eventually cancelled the lot.
They will usually offer you some kind of deal to stay with them, however if you are genuinely interested in Sky+ and they dont offer anything, cancel it now and take Sky+ out in hubbys name in August when you want it back and get a better deal from them that way......

You have to have the Sky+ connected to your phone line as part of your terms and conditions...
