Skip the country...leave the debt? Change of address?

So I've looked at my alternatives. I owe £40k to the banks (Natwest & Barclays); neither of them will come to the party with F&F settlement. I am leaving the country in 3 months' time. I have not paid them since January this year (a relatively short period no doubt for them to even consider f&f...but I tried!).
At present, I live at a friend's apartment. I don't want bailiffs knocking on her door when I've left. This is where my current mail comes to. However, over the next 3 months I will no longer have a stable/fixed address as I am moving out to live with various other friends until I leave the country.
Do I write to the banks with a change of address to a "Post Office Box" address so that all future letters can be sent to me there instead of at my friend's address? Would this mean that when the bailiffs/debt collectors come looking for me, they won't go to my friend's address (considering that it will no longer be my "registered residential address").
Please advise. I REALLY do not want to go bankrupt as I have a property in South Africa (which my parents live in as they can't afford their own place) & I would hate to lose that!
Thank you SO much in advance.

Are you leaving the country permanently? Do you have any source of income? Are you just going to walk away from your debts? What sort of F&F were you offering?0

How DARE they expect you to pay back ALL the money you owe them! it's an absolute outrage! I think you should write to David Cameron, or Jacob Zuma, or even Nelson Mandela to complain.0

The is is either
a) A Troll - not worth answering
or
b) A person with no moral compass who expects to be able to act like a spoilt brat throughout life and feed off others like a paracite.
When leaving the country, leave the dust off your shoes at the airport, you've taken more than you deserve already :mad:DFW'er - Lightbulb moment : 31st July 2009 - £18,499
28th October 2019 - £13,505 - 27% paid off.

Thinking of spending???..YNAB says "NO!!!!"0 -
Some countries have reciprocal agreements with the Uk regarding debt some don't.
I live in Thailand but didn't have any debt when I left the UK.
I do know some expats who have left unsecured debt behind in the UK.
As far as I know they are untouchable over here but will have problems if and when they return to the uk.
Anybody who has lived a lifestyle to accrue massive debt in the UK is unlikely to survive long term in another country. Once the money runs out they return to the Uk with a much bigger debt than they left behind.
Imho you should try to pay them at least some of the money you owe if you don't have it all pay what you can afford.0
