hassled for a debt i have no knowledge off

Options
hey

last week I have received a letter from capita insurance services. with the first line in red letters' legal notification of judgement warning £133.45'

I goes on to say 'despite previously writing to you on several occasion regarding you bdml insurance policy..... who??

I have no idea what this is about, I have had NO previous contact from capita and have asked them to prove to me the authenticity of this debt via a document signed by me. and proof that they have wrote to me( apparently ive been charged for these letters??) including proof sent and receipt by me.. so far ive had emailed to me copies of 3 letters. 2 dated may and june 12 which I have not ever received and the one dated may 13 which I responded to. so far they have not given me any proof that this is legitimate claim for monies owed by me so I have ended each correspondence saying 'that until I receive definitive proof that this is a legitimate debt of mine then I am unable to make a proposal of payment...

can any one guide me on the next steps I should take regarding this

thanks

They do not necessarily need to provide a document signed by yourself as proof that the debt exists or that it belongs to you.

However this could easily be a fishing letter looking for someone with the same name as you.

Have you sent your correspondance to them by post or by email?
If you have only reponsded by email I would write to them by post and use the standard prove it letter template - Letter when you know nothing about about the debt - AKA "Prove it" letter
Until they provide such proof then I wouldn't enter in to any further correspondance with them about charges for letters or anything.

Whilst waiting for a response it might be worth checking your credit file just to see that nothing has been put on there in relation to this alleged debt.

    thanks for reply..

I have been emailing them thus far. so I should only correspond with via post.. recorded delivery also??

so far they have come back with no proof for anything, calls, proof these letters were sent and that I received them and most importantly that this debt is authentic. ive no idea who BDML are, they have also said something about legal and general.., ive never had a thing or policy of them.........
