If we're going to be frank, pretty much everything you post is stupid. Does that help?
    We've managed fine until now.

If it's about to fall off, go to A and E.
If it's not, it can wait until Monday.

    Oooooh get you moody girl.:T

Doctors should work weekends. You seem to think i am saying one GP should do 7 days week...NO, they should have enough staff on at a practice or hospital where Doctors/GP's rotate to work weekends.

Weekends are no longer a time when everything shuts, they are just like every other day of the week, so get the Doctors/GP's off the golf course and into to work.

The GP isn't there for emergencies. That's what out of hours or A&E is for. If you can't wait a couple of days then it's really not a GP problem.

Other services aren't open over the weekend like schools and nurseries. Teachers don't work weekends (I mean work-time. I know they do planning) but I'm sure it would be convenient for weekend-working parents for schools to be open then so they don't have to get a childminder.

Someone made the point of us paying taxes so paying the GPs' salaries. So if they're to add another 2 days to the rota, that's an increase in cost of more than 40%. Because the cost isn't just in the doctors' time. It's the overheads, the paper, the receptionists, changing all of the signs, cost of pensions and disclosures etc. for the extra staff they need...With the economy in the state it's in, we don't need to increase the cost of non-emergency care by that much.

Lets send everyone to A&E at weekends, and let the GP's spend all there money on flash cars and expensive meals....no wonder A&E is almost at breaking point, its becuase the GP's are toooooo lazy.
