Can I be cheeky! Can you give us a breakdown of your budget???

    Thanks :j

After the dress and the actual wedding cost, the rest was mainly food! Although we didn't have an immediate homeymoon, if we had included that it would have been a week in devon at £200. We got married in Feb 1997.

Our budget was £7k, but we came in £1k under! I don't think I'd decrease it as we had everything we wanted and more. I may shop around more for my dress but I think I got a good bargain as I had all my alterations done for £50 and I got 10% off as I bought it off the rack rather than having it ordered in.

Not very MSe but planning on 15-17k on wedding, and a further 3,500 on honeymoon not couting spending money. My parents are paying for the wedding, H2B paying for honeymoon. I am not paying for anything! But I am organising it all.

I got married 5 years ago - well befor i became a money saver but i still wasnt willing to go crazy ....
our spends came to about £1500
my dress was £350..should have been £900..was a sample and the firat i saw!

hubby got married in uniform..roasted alive but it was free..woohoo

my mum used to be a seamstress..so made the 2 bridesmaid dresses..they were stunning and no-one else had the same!

mum made ties for best man etc

mum used to do wedding cakes....ours was a huge 3 tier thing...weighed in at stones no pounds LOL...not including an extra lemon sponge tier..

ohh mum did my flowers, girls flowers and button holes....ohhh thank heavens for mummies :-)

brother did my table decorations...i had terracota pots with herbs in..looked and smelt gorgeous and no problems if the little ones attacked them :-)

got married on a sunday afternoon in the same church as my gran and mum..had bells and choir

brother did photos and they are cracking...very relaxed and got some brilliant spur of the moment ones

we had just had a new car, so other brother drove me in that

everyone who i loved enough to invite to the reception were at the service... about 45 and then we had a sit down meal of roast beef/fresh roast ham salad with new pots and accompaniments
    and strawberries n cream

allowed to provide our own wine....

got really fancy chocs and put them on plates of every table

children on seperate table and had goodie bags with crayons etc to keep them happy
so all in all thanks to good old mum we had our perfect day
and it has gone down in family history as the best wedding yet!!

I know someone who paid a fortune for their wedding (well her dad did) and i felt so sorry for her..it was a nightmare...

Ours is in just over 2 months and it should come in at around £7k for 100 guests excluding honeymoon.
    That's including
    - church fees (including extra money for special license and associated fees)
    - flowers (arranged by OH's nan)
    - dress, shoes etc. and 2 bridesmaid outfits
    - suit hire for me and best man
    - 3 course meal with welcome drink and wine for 100 guests
    - wedding insurance
    - wedding rings
    - accomodation nearby for the couple of days beforehand (we no longer live near there)
    - invitations, favours, place names etc (all made by my fiancee)

We put a 'honeymoon fund' on our wedding list so no idea how much we'll have to spend on that yet, might be a weekends camping in skegness! :D

Our wedding is next August and we're budgeting £5000 not including honeymoon. Costs are spiralling mind you, it's so easy to get caught up in it all. I think catering is going to be the biggest cost. We'd thought about a buffet but not sure how that would work out so back to the drawing board...

I have just sent the £500 deposit for our venue today:j :j

Our wedding is next May and we have budgeted £6000 for everything, we have investigated each area before allocating a budget limit for each item so i am confidant we won't go over

The most expensive cost by far is the venue and food, this alone is £3500 of our budget

so if you can do that bit on the cheap your laughing:o
