Staying on track when the end is in sight.

Options
Hi everyone

Wow it's been a few years since I've been on this site. I had a diary on here before and it really helped me stay on track, at the time my ex OH had just left me for another girl and I was bringing up our 2 young boys on my own. Not a lot has changed since then, I'm still on my own by I'm HAPPY :D my boys are my world and an absolute joy to be around. Ex OH is now living in a different part of the country so the boys only see him a few times a year.

Anyways I'm in a bit more debt then I was first time around :o my total debt is £2980 across 2 credit cards which are currently both 0% interest :T
The debt might not sound a lot to some but it is hard for me to pay large amounts at a time as the majority of my money goes on food/bills etc. the extra debt was added from buying a cheap car as our old one died a magnificent death in the local supermarket car park.
I have gone back to being a self employed hair stylist as this gives me the flexibility to choose my hours around my kids. Anyway enough from me......I am really hoping this diary will keep me on track and I'm looking forward to becoming debt free. :j

Ok so just payed £80 towards the debt :) I am going to take a walk down to the post office in a bit as I have a couple of parcels to send.
I need to pay the rent too so my bank account will not be looking so great by the end of the day. :o

I have a couple of hair appointments tomorrow pm so my neighbour is coming round to watch the kids. I only have to go to the road behind where we live so should only be an hour max.

Well done fizzypops that's a great start to your debt busting, do you have a specific plan on where the payments come from or maybe a payment a day?

    Good luck with your journey.

Thanks for your replies, mummytogirls I did have a sneak at your diary when i first signed in again as I remembered you :) ill have a proper look in a bit. Hope you are all keeping ok.

As for my plan........I don't have one! My income changes most months but I can always cover rent/bills etc I think my plan is too cut back and stop wasting money really! I pay around £100 a month to the debt but need to try and up this. Some months this is doable others it is a struggle. I rang sky to cancel and they offered me my current package half price for 6 months so that is helping. I have managed to pay off just under £1000 since October so I'm slowly heading in the right direction.

Oh and last week I was really good and paid the remaining balance on my catalogue and closed it down :j I'm really pleased with myself as I have a tendency to shop when I'm on my own of an evening. :)

Ok I'm going to the post office now before I ramble all afternoon!

Spent £4.60 sending the parcels today and bought some envelopes as I had run out. I have the kids 50p each to spend as they have been really good lately. :)

Tomorrow I need to put a cheque in the bank and find an old credit card statement so I can write to them and cancel it as I transferred the balance onto my 0% card.

Morning, We were up and out early this morning because I had a dr's appointment. Back home now and I'm just waiting for the washing machine to finish then I will hang it on the airer. Need to go to the bank and also find a letter from my credit card. I have a couple of hair appointments this afternoon so I think we will spend the rest of the day finishing homework as the weather is rubbish again. :(

I paid the rent yesterday so need to be careful with money now. I have to pay the council tax in a few days but need to wait for a few cheques to clear first. Oh and I'm also waiting for a letter from the tax man....gotta love the tax man!

Been to the bank but haven't looked for a credit card statement yet, doh! That is on my list of things to do this evening.

I've managed a NSD today :T and I have thrown about 70p into my loose change pot. I think I have around £30 in there now, I'm waiting until its full then I'm going to bank it and pay it to the debt. :)

Lovely weather today so I took the kids to the park, stopped off on the way home and bought an 80p cone of chips for the boys each. I now have 60p in my purse but I like to draw £100 out of the cashpoint on the 28th of every month for our monthly spend and haven't drawn it out yet so will have to do that over the weekend.

Nothing much else to report, kids go back to school Monday and I have quite a few hair appointments booked in so that helps.

    Another NSD today :j

Cooked a roast for us this afternoon. We had a quiet day today as the boys are back at school tomorrow so we spent the day making sure homework was done, bags packed etc. yesterday I sorted out my purse and put some more change, roughly 35p, into my loose change pot. Every little helps I suppose!
