Thinking of applying for a mortgage

Would a late cc payment in 2011 and one in 2008 affect my chances of applying for a mortgage

Generally any payment profile blips will affect a credit score, but depending upon how strong your other areas of score are, may not result in a decline.

If you are talking 1 late payment in each case (with a good reason for the late payment), which didn't lead to a schedule of arrears, and otherwise you've a clean history, then I wouldn't think it would be an absolute deal breaker - as long as you're not looking for a high LTV such as 95% etc.

If you are going for an agreement in principle, you would be best going for a full application credit check (DIP), as general Agreement In Principle apps (which don't leave a footprint), don't check for defaults or late payments, which will only appear on submission of a full application and full underwriting (which is why you see posts on here where peeps have recd an AIP, and then can't understand why they have been later declined on submission of their application).

A whole of market broker, will source the most suitable providers, submit a Decision In Principle (DIP) for you to those preferred, and if necessary also refer to non-credit scoring lenders whom take a more individual uw approach. (which can help where there have been historical credit or staus blips)

Hope this helps .... good luck
