Enhanced disclosure panic

Sorry if this is in the wrong place!
I'll try to be brief!
5yrs ago I took my employer to A tribunal for unfair dismissal. When I thought the matter was finished and but to bed I got a knock at the door at 11pm from the police saying that my ex employer had accused me of stealing £3 from the till (honestly £3 no zeros missed off!) the officer was really nice and I offered to go back to the station with him there and then but as it was late and a weekend he said it would be better to make an appointment to arrest me and go to the station at a more convenient time. I was supposed to go the following week but received a call later from the officer to cancel the appointment as they were not proceeding with the allegation. I never attended a police station was never finger printed or photographed or technically arrested.
I forgot about the incident and returned to uni and have just qualified as a teacher. I have been successful in applying for a teaching position and when asked if I had any convictions to disclose I said no. I've submitted my forms for an enhanced disclosure and now am concerned about that incident!
Surely if I wasn't fingerprinted etc or attended a police station I wasn't arrested but I'm worried it might show on crb. Should I contact employer and explain?

I can't imagine how this would show up.
As you say, you weren't arrested, you weren't cautioned, you weren't charged.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Forget about it and congratulations on the new job.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
You do need to be a bit concerned about this for an enhanced disclosure. At this level, the police can throw in tittle tattle if they are so minded.
If you are asked about it, you nee to explain what you have told us here - the complaint was plainly vindictiveYou might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
True, but £3?You do need to be a bit concerned about this for an enhanced disclosure. At this level, the police can throw in tittle tattle if they are so minded.
I just can't see it.
BTW, it has been agreed that minor offences committed by a juvenile will be filtered off DBS checks at some point in the future. Not sure of all the details, and I don't think anyone knows when that might be ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
There is no chance whatsoever that this will affect your job. You have done nothing wrong, and there was nothing for you to fail to disclose on your application form. In any case, even if something does come up in an enhanced DBS check ( for someone else, as this will not come up for you
), it does not automatically mean you cannot be employed, just that the application has to be considered by a special panel of the Local Authority.
In the highly unlikely event that you have any problems just contact your Union.0 -
Thank you so much for your replies. I feel less worried now! Thank you McKeff on the congratulations, getting a job makes me feel as though the student debt was worth it!0
