    So sorry.

It was quite a while ago, but when I had an unexpected lump sum, I made an offer to some creditors and enclosed a cheque. Obviously I made it quite clear that it was full and final settlement, not to be used as partial repayment, if the full offer is rejected, cheque must be returned and paying in cheque indicates acceptance of the offer.

Some accepted, a couple came back with the minimum they would accept. Only one Company banked the cheque and tried it on, so I took great pleasure referring them to my "T&C's", and they wrote back apologising.

It might be worth a try, although I understand that debt collection is far more "robust" these days.

    Good luck.
