Booking separate train tickets what if i miss a connection.

Hi just wondered if anybody could help me out.
I will be travelling from London to Grimsby with my 6 year old daughter
The first part of the journey I want to book is a train out of Kings cross at 19.52 to arrive in Doncaster at 21.22 (booked as 1 journey)
I would then need to catch a connecting TransPennine express bus at Doncaster at 21.30 to take me to S!!!!horpe, I will arrive at S!!!!horpe at 22.20 and from there I will be catching a TransPennine train leaving S!!!!horpe at 22.31 eventually arriving in Grimsby at 23.07. (This will be booked as a second journey)
I want to book return tickets to London in advance, it seems that it is cheaper to book separate journey tickets so in effect 2 lots of tickets for my journey home. so my question is this as there is only 7 minutes from arriving at Doncaster and the bus leaving for S!!!!horpe, what would happen if the train from Kings cross arrives late at Doncaster and I miss the bus to S!!!!horpe would I be able to get on the next bus without a fee or would I have to pay because it was booked as a separate journey.
Sorry this is long winded but I have tried to explain as best I can
Many thanks.

You should be allowed on the next bus provided the original journey was an official connection - as it's in the journey planner as a connection it is. So apart from an even later arrival in Grimsby you should have no problems0

Stupid trucking s!!!!s censoring S!!!!horpe.
Your connections are valid whether bought as one ticket or several.
I don't think there's much chance of you missing your connections as they they are likely to be held for delayed trains anyway.0 -
As long as you keep to the minimum connexion times, which for Doncaster is 7 minutes, you will be carried on the next service, whether you hold one or several tickets. As others have said, the journey planners will take this time into account so if your journey is shown then it's ok.
You do not give up any rights by using more than one ticket for a single journey.
Make sure you keep all your tickets though, otherwise you won't be able to show that you were on a delayed train (staff can look up service alterations/delays).0 -

I don't think the problem is the bus, I think it's the fact that there's only 11 minutes between your scheduled arrival in S'thorpe and the departure of the train to Grimsby, if you have to get the next bus from Donnie I very much doubt if it'll arrive before that train leaves, and is there a later train? If not, how are you going to do the last part of the journey?
Hopefully the advice already given will also apply to the final stage, but it would be worth checking - if the 22:30 happened to be the last train out of S'thorpe you might find the station closed if you arrive late.0 -
Is this bus a rail replacement bus?
If so there should be no problem - they'll time the bus departures - and the departures of any trains that expect to be picking up significant numbers of people from the bus - to match actual arrival times.0
