Sliding Wardrobe Doors for Low ceilings (2200)

I've been looking to try and get some sliding doors for my bedroom, the problem is I have a low ceiling. I've been looking around the DIY shops over the weekend try to make use of the bank holiday discounts but none seem to do my size.

A suggestion has been to get made to measure, these are over 4 times as much!

My room height is only a fraction smaller then standard at 2200mm most doors seem to require a height of 2265m. I'm looking at getting 4 sliding mirror doors(width 914mm).

Does anyone know anywhere that does smaller standard heights? or an alternative solution, the room is not very large so conventional doors aren't very space friendly.

Thank you

  • I can't help with where to get doors, but might it be cheaper to get plain ones and fix mirrors on yourself? You can get some lovely funky shaped ones :)
I don't like chick flicks, I get grazed knuckles doing my own car repairs and I ride a massive cruiser motorbike. To many this makes me a bloke in disguise but to my husband this makes me perfect

I did think about that but the mirrors would need to be toughened and cut to the right sizes. I don't know where to start with this but I can't imagine they would be very cheap.

Have you seen 3mm thick acrylic mirror? You can order them 'cut to size' online. I have used them in schools - they look good and are easy to work with.

Could you consider getting some big stylish conventional sliding wardobes? ie a standard wardrobe but with sliding doors already built in?

Try a Park Home company - Prestige is a well-known and respected company. No affiliation, but a park home owner and resident and they are used by many people for renovation and building work. Park homes generally have lower ceilings than conventional houses and much built in furniture. If they can't supply the doors I'm sure they'll be able to point you in the right direction.
