Returning to work - after maternity leave

Hi All - hope this is in the right place.

My wife has been on maternity leave. She wrote a letter giving the correct notice of when she wanted to return (I think its 2/3 months).
She asked to go back part time.

She is supposed to go back in around 4 weeks but the employer still hasnt got back to her. Her boss hardly answers the phone or replies to email and when she does she says it 'should' all be fine - yet she is still waiting on any type of letter confirming.

Is there anything we can do - we spoke to HR a few weeks ago who said it was with her boss - should we complain to HR that its still not sorted?

thanks

I wouldn't necessarily 'complain' to HR, but an email to them to ask how long she should expect to wait before receiving confirmation of her new hours might be a good idea.

She could write a postal letter sent first class asking for a meeting to be set up ASAP to discuss her working part time hours, and give a list of suggested times and dates she could come in.

If she still doesn't here back, she could write again proposing the new hours.

Copy HR in on all the letters.

I guess if she doesn't hear at all, she could just turn up at the new part time hours and see if they say anything?!?!?!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Do not do this, if you ahve not heard anything you have to presume its not been accepted. Chase it up

thanks for the advice - yeah she doesnt want to complain - and we've been told from colleagues that the boss ignores most peoples e-mails/texts (even clients)

We think she's 99% going to be able to do it - it just getting the actual letter to say its done!

Will get her to speak to HR today.
