Hi guys am new to this forum and dont know if this is there right place this should go so sorry in advance. Ok my problem is my credit has been bad over this past and been trying to clean my mess up from when i was young for a while now, anyway recently i checked my score online to see what i had left to pay back as i hadnt checked it for a while. On there was a loan which has give me a default that i thought i had payed back before i moved into my new property, well soon after i did my check online i got a letter through post demanding this some of money (£382.79). I emailed them as it was an 0845 number also i wanted proof of what ever was said explaining that i thought it was paid and i would pay the full amount on the 20th of next month, of which they replied to basically to late its been passed to the baliffs. Is there anything i can do to get it back to the people i owe rather then dealing with baliffs. I have a child on the way i dont want to worry about baliffs coming to my door and putting charges on top. Any info or direction will be much appreciated
Also when i sent my email i did ask as it was such a low sum and i was willing to pay it off straight away for the default to be moved and i would pay any charges as i have seen it you can ask this. If i did have to deal with baliffs can i do the same tactic with them??

Hi and welcome
Who wrote to you demanding the money?
Does the letter from them say bailiffs? or debt collectors?
For it to be bailiffs then your creditor would have had to have first have taken court action and obtained a CCJ against you - which should also show on your credit file.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi tixy thanks for reply
They company i first owed the money to was a payday loan company of which it has been passed to a company called red castle recoveries which is in the bcw group??. Just wondering if i can still pay these and try and shift the default in the process as i wasted notifed i was going to get a default and apparently the have to. But if one was sent to old address does the get classed as let me know as its not there problem i have moved .0 -
Very little chance of getting the default removed as it sounds like you did default on the original loan payment. They do not necessarily have to send a notice of intention to default (and as you say may have sent it to your previous address anyway).
Does a CCJ appear on your credit file for this debt? Did they say that bailiffs had been instructed?
How you tackle this now will be depend on whether its just debt collectors or bailiffs.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I have just checked my credit report and there is no ccj on my account but there is 2 defaults for this one payment, one from the original company and other called gothia ltd...i googled gothia ltd and apparently gothia and red castle are one company. Can i get 2 defaults off one loan...0

they wont have baliffs, more like the milkmanDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Nope. An account can only have one default. Write to red castle complaining and insist one is removed. Keep an eye on the default dates to make sure its correct as they might try changing it.:beer:0
