Credit Check for a job

Hello there, I was just looking for some help!
My OH has recently moved in with me (within the last month) and has, very swiftly, been offered a job in the area. His current job is miles and miles away so this new job is much more convenient. However, my OH is worried because the new employer wants to do a credit check. The problem is, because my OH moved so recently, we are only just changing his address on the electoral roll, bank accounts etc this week. I think that if my OH supplies our new address (explaining the move was very recent and changes of address on accounts etc are in progress) plus his old address, the credit check should be fine. My OH has always paid his bills on time and has nothing to hide so I would hope that, if everything is explained, the check would go fine. But I have a nagging worry in my mind about what if it isn't? My OH is very excited about this job and would be devastated to lose it.
Does anyone have any idea of whether the recent change of address (and the fact that the bank accounts/electoral roll addresses may not change in time) will cause a problem?

They will likely ask for addresses over the last so many years. If he explains the situation they will take the appropriate details.. No need to second guess and get further into a muddle...0

I think it's normal to give all addresses for the last seven years.0

Its normally a lot shorter than 7 years, most commonly it is covering the last 3 years including dates and occasionally its the 5 years with dates.
To the OP - in most cases they do a credit history check to ensure there are no signs of financial distress that may result in the employee taking inappropriate decisions and/ or so that they are in a "moral position" to challenge others that cannot meet payments etc.
Whilst a credit provider may have some issues with a recent change of address it is much less likely that a potential employer would.0 -
Hi, from my experience its addresses covering the past 5yrs so I would assume his current address with yourself as that is probably one he has put down with the employer and the previous one.
A recent move shouldn't affect anything but if it makes him feel more comfortable he can explain he's not currently registered on electoral role etc but as said I doubt it will be an issue.
Good luck in the new job0 -
Thanks to all of the people who have responded. I feel a lot better now. My OH has e-mailed his new employers who have responded saying he should just put both addresses on the form. Fingers crossed he will have a start date by this time next week!!!0
