4.5 Years on

I was made Bankrupt in Jan 2009.

4.5 years on and I am back to an "Excellent" credit rating despite my bankruptcy remaining on my file for another year and a half. I am, and have remained completely debt free since then.

It is the best thing that could have happened despite the enormous stress in incurred at the time.

If it is happening to you now, stay the course, keep your head up as it is a stress worth enduring if you have no other choice and you will have a brighter future ahead. It is such a short length of time given a lifetime. A temporary blip and many valuable lessons learned.

A clearer brighter future lies ahead.

Just thought I would give an update.

Thanks for that, Emby.....it is good to read such positives...especially given so many on here can be at such a low ebb?

Im afraid I do not know the answer to that as I lost my house as a part of the bankruptcy. Im sure someone who has experience of this will chime in.
  • sorry to hear that, but at least you seem very positive about your situation now!

    Thanks for posting this emby!

cygnet - what I did re valuations was to get 5 estate agents over to give a valuation for a quick sale. I didn't mention to them what the valuation was really for though and I did point out all the things that were wrong with the house. For example we had a radiator leak that had dried up however I left the bowl under it and pointed out that the central heating system was on the blink and needed to be replaced. They also queried the back garden saying, "you will tidy that up before you put it on the market" and I said no I wouldn't be doing that because I just wanted a quick sale.

After all 5 valuations came through I chose the 3 lowest and sent those to the OR.
