Tues 28th May - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Morning all!
I am off for a few days due to being half term and originally this was the week booked off to move house!:D Instead we are using this week to finish off decorating this house and do a few things for the new house too.
So this is me today:
- Checked banking
- Update budget spreadsheet and little book
- B/L/D from stores
- Sort the mountain of clean washing that was done/dried Sunday and Monday
- Check conveyencing website for updates
- Clean bathroom and kitchen
- Try to organise upstairs following dismantling my wardrobe and painting behind it
- Confirmed card on Paypal
- Write "moving out" letter to landlady
I love this house and I'm going to miss is massively
- Try not to spend ALL day on the internet when I have lots to do here

Ha ha Carrie that made me laugh. Proper person shoes
Gosh what a come down from the glorious sunshine of yesterday. Im off today too, but me and the little man will be pretty much house bound till his swimming lesson this afternoon due to the shocking weather.
Today I have:
1) Been out early to the supermarket to get stocks in for the event I have on at work tomorrow. Took back a broken bag for life that I have had hanging by my front door for about 6 monthsnice new one given.
2) Interestingly, there was a £15 Ben 10 belt thingy that LM wanted at the shops, but after I explained again that in his pocket money purse he had almost £9 and could not yet afford the belt, he didnt once ask me to buy it for him. I think he is even at his young age realising that money doesnt grow on trees, and he likes the idea of a full purse more than a toy!
3) Meals from stores
4) Banking checked, all ok.
5) I have an extra event on at work tommorow night & at the weekend. That should translate to around £200 in extra revenue, which is very helpful.
Hope no one gets too wet today!

Hi guys  hurrah for it being a Tuesday already :j Thanks for starting us off josie. Looks like the house has come along? It's crazy how there's nothing then all of a sudden it's like - oh we're moving in 2 days!
Quick lunchtime list for me then:
* checked banking quickly - have had my 123 cashback :T
* will update on spreadsheet later... Went through accounts/ss yesterday and we have had a £120 overspend....
* all meals from stores - sausage & mash I think... Have just got my fruit left and am resisting the urge to go get crisps...
* 2nd coat of paint on woodwork this eveing & last coat of emulsion around the edges
* go for a run
* read book
* make lunch for tomorrow and get clothes ready
* investigate what is going on with my alarm - either it didn't go off or it's too quiet and both of those senarios are a problem! I woke up at 7.20 this morning when I was supposed to get up at 6.30. I guess on the bright side it has shown me I don't need to get up that early even if I have to blow dry my hair!
Carrie I know what you mean about being more "grown up" at work. I definitely think I have to pesent a certain image now which involves not tying my hair back for days on end...
ok better get on. Have a lovely day y'all xDF as at 30/12/16

Hi everyone,
Yesterday I didn't post as I didn't really do anything except nurse my hangover on the sofa all day! Still, didn't spend a penny so I guess that's MSE to make up for the spends the night before.
Thanks for starting us off Josie, hope you get everything done this week that you want to.
Carrie - You did make me giggle! Sometimes I think I need to make more of an effort but I am not high up the career ladder at all, maybe I would be if I did!
Bobarella - Sounds like you have a very sensible little one there
NTBY - How long until you start your new job?
DNMS - Oopsie, hope you find a way to make up the overspend.

Hi Rainy-Tuesday People,
What a change from yesterday's loively sunshine!
Today, I have:
*Done the ironing on Econmy 7 tariff & switched off for last item.
*Dinner will be leftover pulled pork, reheated & served in pittas. Only got to make a salad & coleslaw.
*Did surveys.
*Emailed Toluna via a different contact address in response to their email inviting me to re-open my complaint (from last year!). They have received it this time. The 1st 3 attempts at replying just came bouncing straight back to my inbox. Dispute is over a £10 Amazon voucher which they defo owe me & have out of the blue acknowledged that there was a period last year when complaints were not properly addressed. Wonder if I'll ever get it. We'll see.
*Worked hard at June's budget. Checked everything went out correctly in May, set June's grocery & personal spends targets - have allowed more for personal spends for June as we have weekend festival tickets & dealing in cash will avoid stuff being bought on cards & keep an awareness of what we're spending. Already planning to make lots of 'festival-type' food to take with us in picnic bag!
*Rang credit card customer services to sort out discrepancy on online statement which said "£137 of transactions pending". I was unable to acount for £92 of this, but it turned out to include my last payment to them (when I paid May's balance off in full). I thought cheque had cleared as it was showing on my bank statement, but apparently it won't show on credit card statement for another 2 days because of BH. Posted it a good while ago, so it obviously took its time. Might set up online payment option.
*Uploaded energy readings to Co-op Energy & checked account balance.
*Did a competition.
Feel like having a bit of leisure time now, but I find it difficult to 'do nothing' in the daytime since I took VR, so will probably find myself doing a load more jobs or at least knitting.
Cheers for now,

I've got to be honest I'm taking a little bit of a risk here as we haven't exchanged yet! Our solicitor says we should exchange any day now but they're still waiting for the land registry searches to come back, it's been a month now! I have written my letter but will send it tomorrow.
It's not a massive risk as if the worst happens and we still haven't completed by the end of June ( incredibly scary thought!) then we'll just have to move in with his mum, something I have been whole heartedly trying to avoid! :rotfl:
OH doesn't see why I'm stressing about it, I had to point out to him that he's not physically moving and doesn't need to worry about it - I'm the one that has to switch/terminate all the utlities etc!Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0
