Getting Boots points put on advantage account after purchasing?

First off apologies if in wrong section. Don't shoot me, i just couldn't find where it'd be best suited.
Went into Boots today, a different one to the norm as this one had self serve. Put the advantage card into the machine but it obviously didn't read it or it was put in the wrong way around & the points weren't loaded to the account. This was the missus making a purchase.
We went back a bit later as i needed some painkillers & she'd forgotten something, so this time we used my card. Put the card in a different way round but again it must've been wrong as it doesn't load any points to the account.
We have both receipts. Just wondered 1) if & 2) how you can get points loaded to the account afterwards?

Just found this on the advantage FAQs:Can I still collect my points if I have forgotten my Advantage Card?
If you are shopping in store and you have forgotten your Advantage Card, ask the store colleague to validate your receipt when you make a purchase. If a receipt is validated you can bring it in to any Boots store with your Advantage Card and the points can be transferred from your receipt onto your card. This must be done within 45 days of making the purchase.
We didn't go see a member of staff, but what's validating the receipt? Surely the receipt is valid anyway as it's real, it's not a fake.0 -
Is this thread better suited elsewhere?0

Yes they can add points afterwards I've done it a few times for the same reason as you! Keep hold of your receipt as they need that. Not sure if there is a time limit so probably a good idea to do it sooner rather than later. I've just gone to one of the checkouts and they've been able to sort it all out at the till.0

To validate it they have to sign it well in tesco they do not sure about boots just guessing does anyone know if you can get points back from superdrug if the same thing happens.0 -
Ah i see.
Well this one was in Trafford Centre, so i guess we'll just have to go to our local one & see if they'll put the points on. Thanks.0 -
Validating the receipts is something they do with the till before the receipt is printed. It is a bar code that is printed on the bottom that the cashier puts through the bar code reader and the points are added. They do seem to be able to add the points without it if you are lucky though. They don't automatically validate the receipt probably to ensure they don't get womblers.Nine_Lives wrote: »Just found this on the advantage FAQs:
