Weekend in Coventry

Going for a weekend in Coventry soon. Think we are going to stay at Travelodge in the city centre, room only so would need somewhere to go for breakfast if anyone could reccommend, I have seen the Crown Carvery breakfasts and carverys are local so that is one option and the carvery ensures we can get a cheap dinner/tea.

I think we are going to go to visit the cathedral ruins and the motor museum. Going to go to Stratford upon avon one day and maybe Warwick castle.

Anyone got any free parking tips in the city?

Any other good places to visit?

Thanks

Andy

If you are going for a weekend you have more than enough planned already outside Coventry. The Herbert Art Gallery, St Mary's Guildhall - both very close indeed to the cathedral (you have to pay to go in the new one BTW) and Pizza Express there too.

Free parking, no, not in the city IIRC.

If you have not already booked the Coventry Binley Travelodge has free parking and a Toby Carvery next door for breakfast. It is only a couple of miles from there to the City centre for the Cathedral and motor museum. We have family near the City centre and last time stayed at the Premier Inn off the M6 jct 2 and that was handy as next door to a Taybarns restaurant with plenty of other places to eat nearby. We got good service in the Taybarns as we were virtually the only people in the place for breakfast and a huge breakfast buffet selection. Free parking at the hotel.

Just tried Coventry Binley and it appears no family rooms available on my dates, damn! although the city centre travelodge is cheaper. Only a stones throw from wetherspoons on Trinity Street though!.

    Welcome to Coventry :D

If you are based in the city centre, then the best place to park is on Raglan St - free on Saturdays and Sundays, and as it's mainly used by Coventry university staff it is pretty empty on those days. :j It's just around the corner from the main sports centre.
