I have subscribed and will watch with interest. However there is no chance we could replicate. We struggle to save anything in months where I don't earn commission and aren't even up to 20k for a deposit yet after years of saving!

Good luck with it - I might start a diary for a smaller target like paying off the car loan...

I love these diaries, good job :D

Thanks Jaylee3 and toastking. It's ambitious and I have to say we've been VERY lucky with overtime and bonuses the last couple of years. I don't expect much support on here-it's more just a diary to look back on for ourselves but of course it's also great to get input too :-)

I have to say-I think we became a little obsessed with saving over the last couple of years and not fully enjoying ourselves in life. It's addictive saving but I think we need to enjoy life more and take the foot off the accelerator a bit now. Once you become so savings conscious it's hard to let go of that! Good luck you guys-it's amazing how saving the pennies really does mount up.

    £82,000 until mortgage freedom. :-)

Continue to pay £500 per month in OPs every month so mortgage now down to £103400! Have been saving like mad so savings now £31300.

    Therefore £72100 until mortgage freedom!

Still on a fixed rate of 2.89% until Oct 2016. Wish we weren't fixed so we could overpay however much we like!

Oct 2016 is 20 months away. If we were to pay £3600 each month towards mortgage that would mean it'd be clear by the end of the fixed period! Unrealistic but stranger things have happened! Am totally motivated. That would mean mortgage freedom by the time baby is 2.5 years old. LOVE seeing progress on here!
  • We pay roughly £250 every month in mortgage interest. Can't wait to not pay this anymore!!

  • Awesome diary! Two years of blistering progress all on the one page :) Thanks for sharing and good luck becoming 100% mortgage neutral!
  • Loved looking at Laura Jo's diary.

We're still incredibly focused! Currently renting out our spare room to two foreign students for the summer. Have also been given £10K early inheritance from OH dad which is going to make this even more achievable to pay off mortgage by our goal (the end of our 4 year fixed term).

    Savings (including the 10K) £57500
    Mortgage remaining: £97,000

So £40000 until mortgage freedom. Still quite a task to pay this off/save this by September 2016 (14 months) so £2900 each month but we sure are determined to give it our best shot!!
