I remember that feeling very well OP! you are not alone, remember for any no's you only need one Yes, you will do it x

This should make you laugh in one of my interviews this week, I was asked how I planned my day! well I thought they were talking on a personal level.. and went to great length about how I'd pick what clothes I was going to wear god it could have got embarrassing!! d'oh oh no! afterwards I realised they were probably expecting me to say about to do lists!! can't imagine what they thought of me!

If they offer a drink take it, so you can have a sip when you find yourself getting stuck, that horrible dry feeling, sure I had some heart palpatations along the way too x

    Hahahahah! :D

I find I am like that too, cant wait to get out of there. My most recent interview I was successful and the one I was least prepared for. I only had it arranged a day before and got it. I think at my previous ones I had over thought it and tried to pre empt what they were going to as me too much, so when I got completely different questions it threw me a bit.

I'm the same. And you can't run back in and beg them to ask you again either. :D

Practice answers: can you get a friend of a friend that you don't know to ask you a few?

That way you may avoid what I did: "Tell us why you applied for this job?" "Well, it's school hours and I need a school hours job." I did get it, but still ...

That's the question I hate too. My mind goes blank.
  • You have to remember that an interview is about you telling them why you are the best for this particular job. So you need to answer the questions in the manner that best reflects the job.

For example - Q - how do you plan your day.

For a project manegement role; it would be something like 'I plan my day like a mini project, I try to get to work early but have allowed myself a buffer for traffic if needs be. I will start by going through yesterday's 'to do' list and prioritising the tasks on today's information. Then I will try to get the toughest or tightest deadline ones done first. I'll reassess my deadlines around lunchtime and maybe move my schedule around. I usually have Mondays as planning days, Tues through to Thurs as 'doing' days and Fridays as review, report writing, and any extra tasks that can be done earlier will be sorted on a Friday. I use the 7 Habits 'quadrant' time management principles to assess my priorities, in line with each project I am managing'.

For a creative job it might be 'I waft into work after jotting down several ideas on the way in; and will stick them on the mood board by my desk. I then work through the day to deadlines, missing each one by a mile; and have to stop meetings and rush out if I get something urgent happen; otherwise I will be found not paying attention and doodling; as I must get those ideas onto paper as a priority. If I have too many ideas, I may have to lie down so I often leave work early and go lie on my chaise longue at home with a pen and notepad.'

OP - most important thing? Being factual... You wouldn't want to get any important information wrong would you... Like names...

Yes, well, that's why you practice saying the answer aloud beforehand. You sound an eejit, but once you've voiced something it is more likely to come out again.
