Mortgage on temp contract? Looking for advice.

My partner and I are looking to buy our first house. We have £40,000 from inheritance for a deposit. BUT I am currently on a temporary work contract which is long term/ongoing and I have been told I will eventually be made permanent. My question is, will we be able to get a mortgage with my current work situation? We need to move out quick, so please do not reply with "wait" kind of answers... Thanks!

    What is your work history?

    How long on previous contract?

    How long on this contract?

How long left on this contract?

I've just placed a case for someone working agency/temporary for Brook Street. Been there two years in June.

    Hiya thanks for the reply.

I've had constant employment for the last three years except for 4 weeks when my previous employment ended.

I was at my last job for just over a year.

I've been on this contract since September last year and earn a very good wage.

Contract is due to end this month but I will be being taken on as Permanent staff straight away (same job and slightly higher wages).

My partner has been at the same job for just over two years.

    Thanks

Have you an employment contract for the permanent position?

Not yet... I currently have no documents to prove I will be made permanent. Would bank take into account that my partner would be able to cover payments if the contract was delayed?

Have you have received notification of a contract extension?

Then waiting appears to be your only option at the current time.

So for the purposes of lending your a temp that cannot prove your going permanent? I just want to clarify this as it's important.

Most would like 12m-24m continuous with at least 6 months remaining or as in your case perm. If neither cannot be proved........wait for the paperwork.

Ok so presuming I get my contract for perminant work soon how will this work when coming to appy for the mortgage in terms of pay slips? I know most banks require at least 3 months payslips from the same job, obviously when I get my contract I won't have that as I'm currently employed through an agency, though I will be doing the same job and have been here since September last year.

They can ask the employer for a reference instead.
