we have failed our credit check due to my fiance having a default on his file (which has been paid)
I have a good credit rating.
How can we get this default removed from the file?
we're depserate to get our lovely house.

The default will stay on there for 6 years and then come off
HOw much was the default for? When was it registered? When was it cleared?
Which lender declined you?
Either way you should be able to get a mortgage

All lenders have different criteria when considering lending to people with adverse history.
